Devotion

Moses gave this promise to Joshua as leadership was about to change and a new season of responsibility was beginning. Joshua was not being asked to walk into the unknown alone. The Lord would go before him, remain with him, and never abandon him. That promise did not remove every battle ahead, but it removed the lie that fear had the final word.

We often want God to show us the whole path before we take one step. He usually gives something better: His presence for the path. The future may hold decisions we cannot yet explain, conversations we cannot rehearse, or responsibilities that feel larger than our ability. Deuteronomy 31:8 tells us that God is already present in the places that have not yet arrived on our calendar.

Courage is not the absence of nervousness. It is choosing to obey while resting in the faithfulness of the One who goes before us. You do not need to manufacture strength for tomorrow. You need to trust the God who will meet you there.
