Daily Inspiration: The Joy Of The Lord Is Your Strength

Nehemiah 8:10 KJV

Daily KJV Scripture

Scripture

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Nehemiah 8:10 KJV

Devotion

The people in Nehemiah’s day had heard the law of God and were deeply moved by how far they had wandered. Their sorrow was real, but the leaders did not leave them there. They called the people to worship, to share with those in need, and to receive the joy of the Lord as strength.

Godly sorrow can lead us to repentance, but it is not meant to trap us in hopelessness. The joy of the Lord is not denial about sin or pain. It is the assurance that God is merciful, present, and able to restore those who return to Him. This joy gives strength because it shifts the center of our attention from our failure to God’s grace.

There are moments when we need to confess, make things right, and accept correction. Then we must also receive the forgiveness and renewal God gives. A heart that knows the Lord’s joy can serve, give, and move forward instead of being crushed under the weight of yesterday.

Daily Application

If you are carrying regret, bring it honestly to God. Take any needed step of repentance, then choose one way to receive His grace with gratitude rather than continuing to punish yourself.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the joy that comes from Your mercy. Meet me in every place of regret, lead me in true repentance, and give me strength to move forward in the grace You provide. In Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection Question

Am I allowing godly sorrow to lead me to grace, or am I remaining stuck in regret?
