Devotion

Paul describes the Christian life as a new identity. Through faith in Christ, the old life ruled by sin and self is no longer the final definition of who we are. Christ lives in us, and we now live by faith in the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself for us.

This does not mean believers lose personality or become passive. It means our center changes. We no longer belong to ourselves in the same way. Our ambitions, habits, relationships, and decisions are brought under the loving lordship of Jesus. His life in us gives power to say no to what once controlled us and yes to a new way of living.

The foundation of this transformation is love. Paul does not begin with duty. He remembers that Christ loved me and gave Himself for me. When we understand His sacrifice, obedience becomes a grateful response rather than an attempt to earn acceptance. We live by faith because the One who calls us to follow Him has already loved us completely.
