Daily Inspiration: The Gift Of Becoming God’s Child

John 1:12 KJV

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Devotion

John begins his Gospel by declaring that Jesus came into the world He created, yet many did not receive Him. Then he gives a wonderful promise: those who receive Christ by believing on His name are given the right to become children of God. Salvation is not earned through effort, family background, or religious performance. It is received through faith in Jesus.

To be a child of God means we are welcomed into a relationship of grace. We are no longer defined only by sin, failure, or the approval of people. We belong to a Father who knows us, corrects us in love, provides for our deepest need, and invites us to grow in His likeness.

This identity is not merely a future hope. It changes the way we live now. Because we are received by God, we can stop trying to prove our worth. Because we are His children, we can approach Him in prayer with confidence. Because His love is secure, we can serve others from gratitude rather than fear.

Daily Application

Spend a few minutes thanking Jesus for the gift of salvation. Let the truth that you are received by God shape one place where you have been seeking approval from people.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for receiving me by grace and making me part of the family of God. Help me live with the security of a child who is known, loved, corrected, and cared for by You. In Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection Question

How does being a child of God change the way I see my worth and my daily life?
