Devotion

Samuel was looking for a king, and he naturally noticed height, appearance, and the qualities people often associate with leadership. God corrected his vision. The Lord sees beyond what impresses a crowd. He looks at the hidden places: motives, humility, integrity, repentance, and willingness to obey.

This truth is both comforting and challenging. It comforts us because our worth is not decided by appearance, popularity, accomplishments, or the opinions of others. God knows the parts of our story that never appear in public. He sees the quiet acts of faithfulness and the struggles we carry alone.

It also challenges us because the heart cannot be hidden from Him. We may know how to look composed while pride, envy, or resentment grows beneath the surface. God invites us to bring those things honestly into His light. He is not looking for a polished performance. He desires a heart that is open to His correction and ready to follow Him.
