Devotion

Paul wrote to a church with many real problems, yet he began by reminding them that God is faithful. Their hope did not rest on how well they had managed every difficulty. It rested on the God who had called them into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ.

Fellowship with Christ is more than knowing information about Him. It is an ongoing relationship of trust, prayer, obedience, worship, and dependence. Jesus does not call us to follow Him at a distance. He invites us to live in communion with Him through every part of life.

God’s faithfulness gives us hope when we see our own inconsistency. He is patient in our growth, faithful in correction, and present in our weakness. We should never use grace as an excuse to remain unchanged, but we can rest in the truth that the One who called us is committed to His work in us. Our relationship with Christ is held by a God who does not fail.
