Devotion

Ezra’s example gives a beautiful order for a life shaped by Scripture. He prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, to do it, and then to teach it. He did not begin with influence or public instruction. He began with a heart ready to receive and obey what God had said.

It is possible to know Bible words without allowing them to change our habits. Ezra reminds us that the purpose of seeking Scripture is not merely to increase knowledge. It is to become a person who does what God says. Obedience gives credibility to the truth we share with others.

Preparing the heart takes intention. It means coming to Scripture with humility rather than looking only for confirmation of our own opinions. It means asking where God is inviting correction, repentance, or a new step of faith. When His Word is welcomed, practiced, and then shared, it becomes a source of life not only for us but for the people we serve.
