Devotion

Paul teaches that all Scripture is breathed out by God and useful for the life of faith. It teaches us what is true, reproves us when we drift, corrects us when we are wrong, and trains us to live righteously. The Bible is not simply a collection of inspiring thoughts. It is God’s trustworthy Word that speaks into the whole of life.

We naturally enjoy the parts of Scripture that comfort us. We may resist the parts that confront us. Yet both are gifts. Reproof exposes what harms us, and correction points us toward a better path. Instruction trains us over time, much like a wise teacher who prepares a student for responsibilities ahead.

Approaching Scripture with humility means asking more than, What do I already agree with? It means asking, Lord, what do You want to teach, correct, or form in me? As we receive the Word with faith, it equips us to make wise choices and to serve others from a foundation of truth.
