Devotion

Before Jesus sent His disciples into the world, He promised them power through the Holy Spirit. Their mission was too great for personality, education, or courage alone. They would need God’s presence within them to speak, serve, endure, and tell the truth about Christ.

A witness does not invent a message. A witness tells what he has seen and knows. For believers, this includes the grace of Christ, the truth of Scripture, and the ways God has worked in our own lives. Some people share their faith through public words; others do so through faithful conversations, acts of service, and a life that demonstrates the hope they profess.

The Spirit gives power not so that we can appear impressive, but so that Jesus can be made known. We do not have to force opportunities or have every answer. We can ask God to make us attentive, loving, and ready to speak with humility when He opens a door. He is able to use ordinary people as faithful witnesses of His extraordinary grace.
