Daily Inspiration: Rest For The Soul

Matthew 11:28 KJV

Scripture For Today

Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Encouragement

Jesus does not shame the weary for being tired. He invites them near. True rest begins when the burden is brought to Him instead of carried in silence.

Matthew 11:28 is a tender invitation from Jesus to all who are tired, burdened, and worn down.

When Jesus says, “Come unto me,” He is calling us to bring our hearts, struggles, sins, worries, and weariness directly to Him. He does not tell us to fix ourselves first; He invites us to come as we are.

The phrase “all ye that labour and are heavy laden” speaks to those carrying heavy burdens—whether from sin, sorrow, fear, responsibility, grief, or the pressures of life. Jesus sees the weight people carry.

When He says, “and I will give you rest,” He promises a rest that only He can provide. This is more than physical rest; it is peace for the soul, comfort for the heart, forgiveness from sin, and strength to keep going.

In simple terms:
Jesus invites the weary and burdened to come to Him, and He promises to give rest, peace, and strength for the soul

Today’s Application

  • Bring the heaviest concern to the Lord honestly in prayer.
  • Accept that rest can be an act of trust.
  • Make room for quiet before the day demands every minute.

Prayer

Jesus, I bring You the weight I have been carrying. Teach me to receive rest from You, not just distraction. Restore my soul and guide my pace. In Jesus name, amen.

Reflection Question

What burden have I been carrying that I need to bring to Jesus?
