Devotion

Paul does not claim that he has already arrived. He speaks as a person still growing, still reaching, and still pressing toward the calling of God in Christ. This gives hope to anyone who feels discouraged by unfinished growth. The Christian life is a journey of faithful pursuit, not a performance of instant perfection.

Forgetting what is behind does not mean denying the past or refusing to learn from it. It means we do not allow past failure, past success, or past pain to keep us from obeying God now. Regret can become a chain. Pride in former accomplishments can become another. Paul calls us to release both and reach forward.

Pressing toward the mark requires focus. We do not have to solve the entire future today. We can follow Christ in the next decision, receive His forgiveness where needed, and keep moving forward in faith. God is not finished with His people. His high calling gives direction and hope for every new day.
