Devotion

Paul’s call to steadfastness comes after a long chapter about the resurrection. Because Christ is risen and eternal life is real, labor in the Lord is never empty. The work may be unnoticed, the results may seem slow, and the path may be tiring, but God does not waste obedience.

Being steadfast does not mean being stubborn about our own preferences. It means remaining anchored in the truth of Christ when pressure invites us to quit, compromise, or become discouraged. Being unmoveable means our faith is not tossed around by every changing circumstance.

The work of the Lord includes more than formal ministry. It includes raising a family with faith, serving a neighbor, doing honest work, giving generously, praying for someone, learning Scripture, and choosing love when no one is applauding. God sees the labor offered to Him. The resurrection assures us that what is done in Christ has an eternal significance beyond what we can measure today.
