Devotion

Amos spoke to people who kept religious ceremonies while ignoring injustice and selfishness in daily life. God made clear that worship cannot be separated from the way we treat others. He desires justice that flows continually like water and righteousness that does not dry up when it becomes inconvenient.

Justice begins close to home. It appears in honest business, truthful words, fair treatment, mercy toward the vulnerable, and a willingness to refuse favoritism. Righteousness is not simply avoiding obvious wrongdoing. It is actively choosing what is good, fair, and faithful because we belong to God.

This verse calls us to examine whether our faith reaches our decisions, finances, speech, and relationships. It asks whether the people around us experience greater honesty, kindness, and integrity because we follow Christ. God is pleased when worship becomes a life that reflects His concern for what is right.
