Daily Inspiration: Pursuing Peace As Much As You Can

Romans 12:18 KJV

Daily KJV Scripture

Scripture

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Romans 12:18 KJV

Devotion

Paul gives a wise and realistic command. Live peaceably with all people as much as lies within you. He recognizes that peace involves more than one person. We cannot control every response, change every heart, or make every relationship safe. But we are responsible for the part that belongs to us.

Pursuing peace may involve apologizing, listening, speaking truth gently, setting healthy boundaries, forgiving, or choosing not to retaliate. It is not the same as avoiding conflict at all costs. Sometimes peace requires a courageous conversation. Sometimes it requires distance from repeated harm.

The key is to keep our own hearts free from vengeance, pride, and needless hostility. We ask God to show us what we can do with integrity, then we entrust the rest to Him. Peace is not always achieved immediately, but a believer can live with the confidence that they have sought to respond in a way that honors Christ.

Daily Application

Think of one strained relationship. Ask God to show you the part that lies within your responsibility, then take one peace-seeking step without trying to control the other persons response.

Prayer

Lord, make me a person who pursues peace with wisdom and truth. Show me what is mine to do in difficult relationships, guard me from retaliation, and help me trust You with what I cannot control. In Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection Question

What peace-seeking step is within my responsibility in a strained relationship?
