The jailer in Acts 16 asked one of the most important questions a person can ask: What must I do to be saved? Paul and Silas answered with the gospel, not a list of achievements. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is received by trusting in the Savior who died and rose again.

Believing in Christ is more than agreeing that He existed. It is placing our confidence in who He is and what He has done. We stop trusting ourselves to make us right with God and receive the grace that Jesus alone provides.

The promise also points toward the influence of faith in a household. We cannot believe for someone else or force a loved one to follow Christ. But our faith can change the atmosphere of a home. It can lead us to pray, speak truth with grace, forgive, serve, and live with hope. The gospel that saves a person also begins to transform the way that person lives among others.
