Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Encouragement

The Lord is faithful to direct a heart that acknowledges Him. Trust does not mean pretending to know everything. It means refusing to lean only on our own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5–6 is one of the clearest scriptures about trusting God with the direction of our life.

When it says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart,” it is calling us to place our full confidence in God. Not partial trust, not trust only when things make sense, but wholehearted trust. It means we believe God is wise, faithful, loving, and able to lead us better than we can lead ourselves.

The next phrase, “and lean not unto thine own understanding,” reminds us that our understanding is limited. We only see part of the situation. We may be influenced by fear, emotion, pressure, or what seems logical at the moment. God sees the whole picture. This does not mean we should ignore wisdom or refuse to think carefully. It means we should not make our own reasoning the final authority above God.

Then the verse says, “In all thy ways acknowledge him.” That means we should invite God into every part of our life: our decisions, plans, relationships, work, home, finances, ministry, and future. To acknowledge Him is to seek His will, honor His Word, pray for His guidance, and recognize that He is Lord over every step.

Finally, “and he shall direct thy paths” is the promise. When we trust Him, refuse to rely only on ourselves, and acknowledge Him in our ways, God will guide us. He may not always show the whole road at once, but He will direct the path step by step.

This scripture reminds us that life is not meant to be walked by human understanding alone. God invites us to trust Him fully, seek Him sincerely, and follow His leading with confidence. His direction is better than our best guess.

• Hold your preferred outcome with open hands.
• Look for direction that is wise, honest, humble, and consistent with Scripture.

Prayer

Lord, I acknowledge You in my plans today. Correct what needs correcting, guide what needs guiding, and help me trust You more than my own limited understanding. In Jesus name, amen.
