Daily Inspiration: Work That Honors God

Romans 12:21 KJV

Daily KJV Scripture

Today’s Scripture

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:21 KJV

Today’s Encouragement

Romans 12:21 is a clear instruction about how a believer should respond when faced with evil, wrong, mistreatment, or discouragement.

When it says, “Be not overcome of evil,” it warns us not to let evil control our heart, attitude, words, or actions. When someone does wrong, it is easy to become bitter, angry, vengeful, or discouraged. But if evil causes us to act in the same spirit, then it has overcome us.

Then the verse says, “but overcome evil with good.” This does not mean we ignore wrong or pretend evil is acceptable. It means we respond in a way that honors God. Instead of returning hate for hate, we choose goodness. Instead of letting bitterness grow, we choose forgiveness. Instead of allowing darkness to shape us, we let the light of Christ guide our response.

This scripture teaches that good is not weak. In God’s hands, goodness is powerful. Kindness, truth, patience, prayer, mercy, integrity, and love can overcome what anger and revenge never could.

Romans 12:21 reminds us that the believer’s victory is not found in becoming like the evil we face, but in reflecting the goodness of God in the middle of it.

Daily Application

Today, when you face frustration, criticism, unfairness, or negativity, pause before responding. Ask God to help you answer with wisdom instead of reaction. Look for one practical way to overcome evil with good: speak kindly, do what is right, forgive, pray for someone, or choose integrity when it would be easier to repay wrong with wrong.

Prayer

Lord, help me not to be overcome by evil, anger, bitterness, or discouragement. Give me the strength to respond in a way that honors You. Teach me to overcome evil with good, to walk in patience, to speak with grace, and to reflect the love of Christ even when things are difficult. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection Question

Where am I being tempted to respond to wrong with the same spirit, and how can I overcome that situation with good today?
