Matthew 6:33 KJV

Daily KJV Scripture

Today’s Scripture

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33 KJV

Today’s Encouragement

Matthew 6:33 teaches us to put God first above every worry, need, plan, and desire.

Jesus was speaking about the cares of life—food, clothing, provision, and tomorrow’s needs. He reminds us that life is not meant to be controlled by anxiety, but guided by faith. When He says, “seek ye first the kingdom of God,” He is calling us to make God’s will, God’s ways, and God’s authority the highest priority in our lives.

To seek “his righteousness” means we should desire to live in a way that pleases Him—not just chasing what we want, but walking in obedience, holiness, truth, and trust. It is not only about asking God to bless our plans; it is about surrendering our plans to Him.

The promise, “and all these things shall be added unto you,” does not mean we will receive everything we selfishly want. It means that when we put God first, we can trust Him to take care of what we truly need. He knows our burdens, our responsibilities, and our future. Our part is to keep Him first; His part is to provide, guide, and sustain us.

In simple terms:
Put God first, live for what is right in His eyes, and trust Him to take care of the rest.

Daily Application

Make God a priority over your daily “needs”. Everything we need comes from the Father. Nourish your relationship with God and allow Him to be the provider of all your needs. He already knows what we have need of, but God wants a close relationship with us. Through that relationship we find that He does provide everything we need.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for providing for my needs. Help me seeking a closer relationship with you and trusting You with the results. Amen.

Reflection Question

How am I seeking a closer relationship with God and where do I need to trust God’s provision?
