Today’s Encouragement

Faith is not simply a hopeful feeling when life is easy. Faith is the decision to take God at His Word when the next step is not fully visible. It steadies the heart because it rests on who God is, not on how much we can control.

A faithful day may still include questions, pressure, and unfinished work. The difference is that we do not have to carry those things alone. We can obey what God has made clear, trust Him with what remains hidden, and move forward with a quiet confidence that He sees the full picture.

Romans 10:17 teaches that faith is strengthened by hearing and receiving the Word of God.

When the verse says, “So then faith cometh by hearing,” it reminds us that faith is not something we build only from emotions, opinions, or circumstances. Faith grows when we hear the truth of God. The more we listen to what God has said, the more our hearts are strengthened to believe Him.

The phrase “and hearing by the word of God” shows the source of true faith. God’s Word reveals who He is, what He has promised, what He has done, and how He calls us to live. When Scripture is preached, read, studied, spoken, remembered, and received, it feeds faith in the heart.

This verse also reminds us that we must be careful what we listen to. Fear grows when we constantly listen to fear. Doubt grows when we constantly listen to doubt. But faith grows when we keep bringing our hearts back to the Word of God.

Romans 10:17 teaches that the next step of faith often begins with hearing God’s truth again. When we feel weak, unsure, or discouraged, we do not need to wait until we feel stronger before coming to God’s Word. We come to His Word so that faith can be strengthened.
