Daily KJV Scripture

Scripture

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Mark 9:23 KJV

Devotion

A father brought his suffering son to Jesus with a mixture of hope and uncertainty. Jesus responded by drawing attention to faith, not as a magical force that controls God, but as trust placed in the One who is able. The father immediately cried out that he believed and needed help for his unbelief. That honest response is familiar to many of us.

Faith does not mean we never wrestle with questions. It means we bring those questions to Christ instead of allowing them to keep us away from Him. We can believe that God is powerful while admitting that our hearts are still learning to trust. He is not offended by a sincere prayer for stronger faith.

All things are possible with God, but He remains wise and sovereign in the way He works. We pray boldly because no need is too difficult for Him. We also surrender the outcome because His knowledge and love are greater than ours. Faith rests in His character, even while we wait to see His answer.

Daily Application

Bring one situation that feels impossible to Jesus in prayer. Tell Him honestly where your faith feels weak, then ask Him to strengthen your trust as you wait and obey.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are able to do what I cannot do. Meet me in my weakness, strengthen my faith, and help me trust Your power and wisdom with the impossible need before me. In Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection Question

What impossible situation do I need to bring to Jesus with honest faith today?

The Great Escape

Scripture: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV

Temptation often makes us feel isolated. It tells us that no one understands the pull we feel and that failure is inevitable. Paul counters both lies. Temptation is common to humanity, and God is faithful. He does not abandon His people when they face pressure.

The way of escape may not always feel dramatic. It can be a choice to leave a setting, call a trusted person, turn off a device, speak the truth, pray before responding, or remember a verse that exposes the lie beneath the temptation. God provides a path, but we must be willing to take it.

This verse is not meant to shame someone who has fallen. It is meant to give hope for the next decision. In Christ, we can confess sin, receive forgiveness, and build wiser patterns. The faithfulness of God is greater than the pull of temptation, and His grace equips us to make a different choice.
