Today’s Encouragement

Forgiveness is one of the clearest ways grace becomes visible in daily life. It does not pretend that wrong was harmless, and it does not always remove the need for wisdom or boundaries. But it does release the desire to keep bitterness in charge.

The forgiven heart is called to become a forgiving heart. When we remember how patiently God has dealt with us, we are better prepared to speak gently, pursue peace where possible, and refuse to let resentment shape our future.

1 John 1:9 is a precious promise of forgiveness, cleansing, and restoration. It reminds us that God does not call us to hide our sin, excuse it, or carry the shame of it in silence. He invites us to confess it honestly before Him.

The word “confess” means to agree with God about our sin. It is coming before the Lord with a humble heart, admitting what is wrong, and trusting His mercy instead of our own goodness.

The verse says “he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.” God is faithful because He keeps His promises, and He is just because Jesus has already paid the price for sin through His blood. Forgiveness is not based on our ability to earn it, but on the finished work of Christ.

The promise does not stop with forgiveness. God also cleanses us “from all unrighteousness.” He does not merely remove the guilt; He works in our hearts to make us clean, renewed, and restored before Him.

This scripture reminds us that forgiveness is available when we come to God honestly. We do not have to remain trapped in guilt or distance ourselves from the Lord. Through confession, we can find mercy, cleansing, and a restored walk with Him.
