Today’s Encouragement

Gratitude trains the heart to notice grace. It does not deny hardship, but it refuses to let hardship become the only story we tell ourselves. A thankful spirit remembers that every good gift comes from God and that His kindness often appears in ordinary places.

When we practice gratitude, we become less controlled by comparison and complaint. Thankfulness helps us receive today with open hands, appreciate people more clearly, and recognize that God has been faithful in details we may have rushed past.

James 1:17 reminds us that every truly good and perfect gift comes from God. The blessings in our lives are not accidents, coincidences, or things we should take for granted. They flow from the loving hand of our Heavenly Father.

The phrase “Father of lights” points to God as the Creator and source of all light, goodness, truth, and blessing. Everything pure, right, helpful, and eternal begins with Him. While the world is often changing, uncertain, and unstable, God remains perfectly faithful.

When the verse says there is “no variableness, neither shadow of turning” with God, it means He does not change. His goodness does not fade. His love does not shift. His character does not weaken. The same God who has been faithful before is still faithful today.

This scripture encourages us to recognize God as the source of our blessings and to trust Him as the unchanging Giver of every good thing.
